Tips for Race Day

Plan to arrive at least one hour ahead of time for your event. Roads along the race route will be blocked and registration will be closed prior to the Welcome Remarks at 7:15 a.m.

Race Management reserves the right to refuse any entry.

NO BABY JOGGERS, ROLLERBLADES, HEAD PHONES OR PETS PERMITTED.

Strollers are allowed, but you will be asked to line up in the staging area behind the runners for everyone’s safety.

USATF Certified and Champion Chip timed for 5-mile and 5K events only.
- There will be age group awards for the 5-mile and 5K races only.

Miles for Moffitt Milestone Awards, along with gift certificates from Columbia Restaurant, will be given to the top male and female winners in the Overall, Masters and Survivor categories. Miles for Moffitt Milestone Awards will be given to the men, women and youths who place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the following age divisions:
9 and under
10 – 14
15 – 19
20 – 24
25 – 29
30 – 34
35 – 39
40 – 44
45 – 49
50 – 54
55 – 59
60 – 64
65 – 69
70 – 74
75 – 79
80 and over
100% of all registration fees and donations go directly to support cancer research at Moffitt. Our generous sponsors underwrite all the expenses associated with the race!
How can I register?
Online registration will open on January 1, 2012, at www.Active.com.
Can I register on Race Day?
Early registration is encouraged, but you can register on race morning. Race Day registrations will not be timed in any of the races. Additional race entry fees will apply.
Where is Packet Pick Up?
We encourage everyone to come to early packet pick up if you can to avoid long lines on race day. We offer packet pick up in North Tampa, Downtown Tampa and St. Petersburg. Dates and locations are to be announced.
Can I pick up someone else’s packet?
Yes, you can – all you need is the name of the participant(s).
Are jogging strollers allowed?
Due to our U.S. Track and Field insurance policy, jogging strollers are not permitted to run in the race, but we welcome all strollers to walk the 5-mile, 5K or 1-mile course. We do ask that strollers line up near the back.
Do I need to register my child if they are in a stroller or wagon?
No
Can I switch from one event to another?
Yes, as long as you do so before May 8. There is no fee for switching from the 5-mile event to the 5K event. Runners that wish to change from the 1-mile to any other race will be charged the difference between the amount they have already paid and the current registration fee.
What time should I get there on race day?
Participants are encouraged to arrive early – by 7 a.m. to avoid street closures along the race route. With more than 5,000 participants, expect traffic congestion along Fowler Avenue. We encourage arriving to the Sun Dome off 50th street or Fletcher Avenue. See Race Parking map for alternate routes into the Sun Dome area at our website at www.MilesforMoffitt.com
Can I bring my pet?
Sorry – no pets allowed in the Race Village or out on the course.
Where should I park?
The USF Sundome parking lot and other campus parking around the USF Library and Alumni center all have easy access to the Race Village.
Where is the start and finish line?
The Start and Finish line is on Alumni Drive near Bull Run Drive.
What happens if it rains?
The race will happen, rain or shine. Race Directors reserve the right to cancel in severe weather conditions. Check the website for updates.
Where do I wear my race bib?
Race bibs should be pinned on the front with the number visible.
