Ultra Miles for Moffitt
Hello, Florida Ultrarunners.
We have set a date for the Florida Bank 2010 Ultra Miles for Moffitt 12-Hour Endurance Run presented by Greenberg Traurig Law: Saturday, May 8, beginning at 7 p.m. and finishing at 7 a.m. on Sunday, May 9.
You may choose to run on the University of South Florida track, a certified 400 meter Mondo (rubberized) surface OR, you may run on the adjacent 1.25 mile par course trail. We will have electronic lap counting for the track. For those who run on the trail, you will need to provide your own method for lap counting or distance management. If you want to run a little on both surfaces, feel free, but only your laps on the track will be counted.
The track will be lighted, restrooms are very accessible and the music will play all night (provided you bring your favorite running CDs). The trail will have only partial lighting - the portion that runs along the track - so bring a headlamp or flashlight. The trail surface is mostly hard-packed sand. There may be construction in the area of the trail, so we may have to shorten the distance somewhat, but it will still be on the trail.
We will have a single aid station that will be accessible to both venues. Please feel free to bring your own food and drink. We will have water and Hammer Nutrition Heed and basic aid station food, but will not be so fully stocked as we were last year (much of what we had was not fully utilized). As we get closer, I will have a better menu for you.
Registration is through Active.com. Go to www.milesformoffitt.com and click on click here to register. You can then choose the Ultra option once you are on the registration page. The registration fee is $50 with an additional $100 suggested donation to Moffitt Cancer Center. You may set up your own sponsorship/fundraising account and have your donors go there to donate online. (Click here for an example.) The track has a 75 runner maximum, so get your entry in early. We have no limit for the trail. There is no option to choose track or trail on the registration page, so just e-mail me with your preference after you register.
